So my lunch date with the eH guy didn’t really seem like a date at all. We talked about church planting, theology, etc. And then he asked if I knew what my Myers-Briggs type was. (I’m an E/I NFP.) He’s an ENFP. And believe it or not, I think he’s more of a P than I am. MUCH more. Frightening, huh? I remember thinking throughout lunch that he didn’t seem like he was 42 years old at all. He didn’t even seem like he was 32. This will sound awful, but I can totally see why he’s still single. He’s been assessed for being a possible church planter. He was advised to take a year and figure things out. They suggested he plug into a community. When I asked him about his vision for a church, he didn’t have one. How can a church planter not have a vision for a church? One of the reasons why I think Metro has been so successful is that there was a clear vision. It has been nice to see that vision come into being. If I were to help plant a church now, my vision for a church would be a bit different from Metro. But I DO have a vision. Anyway, it was an interesting experience having lunch with an ENFP church planter/ministry guy. There is obviously a broad range even in one personality type, but it did make me wonder how much people might perceive me in a similar way as I saw him. If that’s the case, then that’s scary! Alright, alright. Maybe I’m being premature in my judgments. I suppose at this point in my life, however, I’m looking for stability…which he does not seem to possess. Dating can be very tough specially when you are a single and Christian. If you truly want to fallow the way of the teachings there can be very few ways to find that special someone.
