Hace año y medio saltaba la polémica cuando nos enterábamos que una página web de búsqueda de pareja por internet, eHarmony, negaba a gays y lesbianas la posibilidad de usarla alegando que se trataba de una página para heterosexuales. Ahora por fin conocemos que eHarmony, para evitar una condena por discriminación homófoba, abrirá sus servicios a personas homosexuales tras un proceso iniciado por Eric McKinley, un ciudadano gay de Nueva Jersey, em marzo de 2005. Tras un acuerdo alcanzado por la página y McKinley, con la supervisión de la División de Derechos Civiles del estado de Nueva Jersey, eHarmony desarrollará un servicio denominado Compatible Partners dirigido a gays y lesbianas y que deberá estar disponible antes del 31 de marzo. McKinley será usuario gratuito por un año y recibirá además una indemnización de 5.000 dólares. Mientras tanto, la demanda planteada en California por Linda Carlson, una ciudadana lesbiana, y de la cual informábamos en su momento, sigue su curso.
